Link-Vault Update

Well, I've been tinkering with Link Vault and here's my summarized take so far - It's a great concept that still needs some work.

I had some difficulty getting the code to work initially. The forum admins couldn't offer much in terms of help, but another member stepped up and pointed me in the right direction. The Link Vault instructions are pretty good if you know and are comfortable working with php, but if you're not, you could be in for some "fun".

After I got everything working I sat patiently and waited for my links to start appearing throughout the network. After about a week I contacted the LV admins as none of my links had started to propagate through the network. I got a response and within 12 hours my links started to appear. That's great I thought, but still wonder why it took manual intervention on an admins part to get my account moving.

A few days later links from within the network started to appear on my site. I was happy to see that as it meant the network was working. Two days later, all the links that had appeared on my site were gone....two days later they were back again. Another member had posted about this same issue in the forum and to date the question as to why this happens has not been answered.

Until a recent hardware/server update the forum and user control panel for Link-Vault were terribly slow - to the point getting timeout errors at the site was not uncommon. My guess is the owners of Link Vault are still playing catch up - the network is growing faster than they anticipated and they need to add/upgrade resources to keep pace. That's good news for the network...although still slightly aggravating to the participating members.

Wow, all that seems bad huh? It's not all bad, as I said above I think it's a great concept that still needs some work.

The interface/user control panel is pretty slick. You have access to quite a bit of info even without any referrals. You get more features as you sign people into the network...which I haven't attempted yet so I can't really comment in the additional features.

The auto update feature is nice...although it still make me worry in the back of my mind.

Setting the number of links per day & a max cap (if you choose) also seems to work pretty well. Since the early hiccups I have received the correct number of links each day...at least according to the user control panel.

If the owners of Link Vault stick with it I think Link Vault will become another great free advertising program at the disposal of webmaster looking to promote their sites.

I also though the Chicago Cubs would win the World Series last season so take my opinions for what they are worth...
