The Alexa Test - Update

This is an update to the Alexa Test I started in November.

I didn't even get close to breaking the 5K mark by December 31, 2005 so I've decided to extend the project. I'm not going to set a close date, I'm just going to keep the site up and try different things to manipulate the Alexa ranking.

I did notice that today, according to alexa.com, the rank of the Alexa test site has dropped below 100,000 for the first time. It's at 83,152 for day, although the toolbar still shows it above 300,000.

I'll update the Alexa test page in a day or two with some more info.

Help with the Alexa Test

I tend to think top 10,000 Alexa ratings have some value, but I've honestly never tried to fake or manipulate the Alexa rating so I'm not sure how accurate my assumption is.

I decided the easiest way to find out would be to set up a brand new page on a brand new domain and see how easy it is to tweak. I don't think it's possible to "fake" your way into the top 5,000 - but I could be wrong. I'm going to try and do it using every method I can think of.
